From Fog To Fire Whirl

Valier, Montana, is a village of about four hundred people that formed as the center of a agricultural complex on the east slope of the Rocky Mountains. Swift Dam, located in the foothills on the Blackfeet Reservation, controls a flow of water through a system of irrigation ditches to Lake Francis, created alongside Valier by an earthen dam not big enough to have a mane. The irrigation enables small grain crops on flat lands stretching to the south and east of Valier, the location of the grain elevators. Twenty miles of railroad spur was built as part of the same project. Also nearby are livestock ranches that mostly raise Angus and Hereford beef. There are swine and poultry enterprises. This is an excellent location for a nature mystic with a broad grasp of planetary currents and solar phenomena. But it is not easy country. The Blackfeet have known that all along. --back cover.
