This novel contains both fact and fiction. The author strove to keep the fictional portion of the novel accurate in regard to any scientific and/or medical information. The preface and appendices to the novel are strictly factual, and constitute over seventy pages. In 1981, the author became the world's pioneer researcher in airborne cyanide and its effects upon human health. Airborne cyanide is generated through the use of fossil fuels and other industrial processes, and it has a half-life in the atmosphere estimated at one to three years. Most of the airborne cyanide remains in the lower atmosphere, namely the air we breathe. Like the discoveries of viruses and bacteria, the discovery of airborne cyanide and its effects upon human health is monumental. Many years of research as well as research proposals are addressed in the nonfiction pages of this book. There are also pages that provide treatment data for persons who experience illness from exposure to airborne cyanide. Appendix A contains categorical sheets of instructions regarding the treatment of illness suffered from sensitivity to airborne cyanide, including information on how to obtain products used for treatment. Most of the products used for treatment are inexpensive and over-the-counter (not requiring a doctor's prescription). These treatments have been proven over decades of use. Notably, the sodium thiosulfate pentahydrate is the author's favorite product for enabling patients to quit smoking or chewing tobacco. The efficacy of this treatment for ceasing the use of tobacco is based upon the fact that cyanide is a depressant and nicotine is a stimulant, so removing levels of depressant in the body can make it easier to stop using a stimulant.Appendix B provides testimonials from individuals who have experienced improvements in health while on treatment for airborne cyanide sensitivity, including persons with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia. These testimonials are voluntary and sincere reports from real individuals. Appendix C presents various reports from bygone years, when the author was developing treatments for airborne cyanide sensitivity and putting together research proposals. He was pleased by interest he received at Oak Ridge National Laboratory where he was able to meet with a group of scientists; but unfortunately, the prospect of major institutional research is dependent upon financial funding, which was not available. Nonetheless, despite failure to actuate research through Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and despite additional failure to actuate research through Oak Ridge Associated Universities, the author is hopeful that the words contained in this book will result in the successful treatment of many individuals who experience illness caused by a ubiquitous atmospheric poison, namely airborne cyanide.Additionally, the author hopes that the information presented through this publication will stimulate research through organizations such as the American Diabetes Association, the American Fibromyalgia Syndrome Association, the National CFIDS Foundation, the Autism Research Foundation, the Epilepsy Foundation, and the Autoimmunity Research Foundation. He intends to provide personal contact information to all of these organizations following the publication of this book. The author lives in proximity to the Oak Ridge National Laboratory and will be more than happy to provide any information that he possesses to scientists at that facility, free of charge. The author also lives in proximity to the Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU), and will likewise be happy to provide information to that facility, free of charge. The testing ORAU performs in regard to beryllium sensitivity, namely the Beryllium Lymphocyte Proliferation Test (BeLPT), appears similar to the test performed for cyanide sensitivity by Dr. William Hitt, a microallergist who trained at Johns Hopkins. Apparently, both beryllium and cyanide may trigger autoimmune responses.
